The Field

The stage is the substance.

Current understanding

We inherit a picture where space is the empty stage and objects are the actors. This thread flips it: the stage is not secondary. What we call “things” are stabilized patterns within a continuous, living medium, and the medium is responsive.

Three claims hold it together so far. Change is prior to form: things are what change looks like when it slows down enough to be named. The field is not empty: it answers, the way water answers a stone. Stance is substrate: the posture you create from is more causative than the technique you create with.

The experiments test whether these hold outside the notebook: in a body, a morning, a day.
